2010 USD Soccer Clinic raised $1350 for Kick for Hope
On Sunday, March 28, 2010, 54 area youth soccer players sharpened their shooting skills at USD's second annual soccer skills clinic benefiting Kick for Hope. The clinic was run by USD's women's coach, Ada Greenwood who was assisted by several of his players and five members of the San Diego Sea Lion's. The success of this soccer clinic reaches far beyond goals scored on the field because every child that attended has a direct impact on the life of a child in Africa. Through Kick for Hope's partners, Charity:water and Malaria No More, $1,350 can supply 270 children with clean drinking water for 5 years, or prevent malaria deaths by providing mosquito nets to 135 children and their mothers. Through K4H's partners Kick 4 Life and Grassroot Soccer, $1,350 can educate 52 children about AIDS prevention, and even provide them and their families with AIDS testing as well as medical care if needed. In addition to raising aid, the clinic was also designed to raise awareness among our youth about global poverty and disease and give players a sense of fulfillment that only comes from helping those in need. Many thanks to all who attended and contributed to make this event a success.
